  • Scott Tolzien - QB - Wisc: Tolzien ready to fight... Mar 13, 10:15AM

"I still take the approach that it is open competition," Wisconsin starting quarterback Scott Tolzien said. "You can't get complacent." Offensive coordinator Paul Chryst is anxious to see how much Curt Phillips and Jon Budmayr push Tolzien this spring.  We don't think this will be much of a battle.  Tolzien established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the Big Ten, if not the country, last season.  He is highly underrated by the national pundits and the only thing keeping him from becoming a household name is Wisconsin's run game.

  • Dan Buckner - WR,TE - Tex: Dan Buckner making a... Mar 13, 10:00AM

Texas transfer Dan Buckner is making a strong impression at Arizona's spring camp.  Coach Mike Stoops says the  wideout "has unlimited potential." Buckner showed a glimpse of his potential early in 2009 for the Longhorns before injuries slowed him down.  If you are in a deep keeper league, you may want to consider investing a pick on Buckner for 2011.

  • Darron Thomas - QB - Oreg: Who leads the Ducks in... Mar 13, 10:00AM

ESPN's Graham Watson takes a look the two contenders for the starting quarterback job for Oregon now that Jeremiah Masoli is suspended.  Nate Costa was the projected starter in 2008 before a knee injury sidelined him before the opener.  And Darron Thomas is a high-profile recruit that showed flashes against Boise St. in 2008. Thomas is a big athletic quarterback and the future of Duck football, and it is hard to imagine him not getting the nod.  Especially considering Costa's injury history.

  • Eugene Jarvis - RB - Kent: Eugene Jarvis to miss... Mar 13, 10:00AM

Kent State running back Eugene Jarvis will sit out spring practice as he continues to heal from a lacerated kidney. ESPN's Graham Watson has a nice piece on her blog detailing the injury and showing just how tough the vertically challenged Jarvis is. All signs point to him being ready come this fall and worth a shot as a sleeper pick in 2010.

  • Markques Simas - WR - Colo: Buffs reinstate... Mar 13, 10:00AM

Colorado receiver Markques Simas was reinstated and back at practice on Friday.  Simas was suspended following last month's DUI arrest. Simas has loads of talent but it is hard to take him seriously after missing considerable time due to suspensions and academics.

  • Terry Grant - RB - Ala: Terry Grant to forgo... Mar 13, 8:15AM

Alabama running back Terry Grant, who would qualify for a medical red shirt this season has decided to forgo his fifth year of eligibility at Alabama. Grant carried 40 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns in 2009. Terry Grant was a consistent performer for the Tide, but suffered from an injury plagued career. Grant had been working at wide receiver due to the depth of the Alabama backfield.

  • Jeremiah Masoli - QB - Oreg: Jeremiah Masoli gets... Mar 12, 7:45PM

Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and former wide receiver Garrett Embry plead guilty to second-degree theft, a misdemeanor on Friday. Both were sentenced to one-year probation, community service and the pair must pay restitution. The only question now is what will Ducks athletic director Mike Bellotti and coach Chip Kelly decide on Masoli and running back LaMichael James, who plead guilty to misdemeanor harassment earlier today.
